Hemp flavored iced tea?
DAMN RIGHT IT IS!

- What do you know about hemp? Not much! Well let Chronic Ice educate you on this super food packed with nutrients. Hemp is said to be the oldest, cultivated plant in the world and one the healthiest and quickest crops to grow. Hemp, which doesn’t require the use of pesticides, is full of essential vitamins and minerals that offer excellent health benefits for the body. Hemp oil contains 57% linoleic acid (LA) and 19% linolenic acid (LNA) offering a doctor recommended 3:1 ratio needed to maintain a healthy diet. These are the essential fatty acids (EFAs) that aren’t produced internally and must be obtained from the foods we eat.
- Consumption of hemp helps fight many of society’s common health battles including obesity, diabetes, high cholesterol and blood pressure. Hemp products help protect the body against heart problems and blood pressure by reducing inflammation and blood clots. In addition, much like flax seed oil, hemp products keep the digestive system clean and regular. Hemp can also be a factor in shedding unwanted pounds by curbing cravings and boosting energy. The nutrients also help maintain healthy cholesterol and blood sugar levels.

- As the awareness of hemp-based products have increased, so has the product offerings in local food stores. Hemp can be found in salad dressings, pastas, nutritional bars, desserts, breads, butter, breakfast foods and more. Much like organic food specialties, the demand for hemp foods and beverages are expected to rapidly increase.
- Hemp is not only good for the body, but also the environment. The use of hemp
can be linked as far back as 8000 B.C. It is primarily grown in Europe, Asia,
South America and Canada, but is illegal to produce in the U.S. Hemp can be
found in most every day items including, towels, clothing, book bags and paper.
While hemp is healthy, there are those that confuse hemp for marijuana. Chronic Ice is perfectly legal and doesn’t contain any psychoactive substances. The Latin name Cannabis sativa actually translates as "useful hemp." The confusion and concern often arises due to the fact that hemp seeds/oil is derived from the plant Cannabis sativa, which is often incorrectly linked to marijuana. The active ingredient in marijuana is a large amount of the chemical THC. While hemp does contain THC, the quantities in hemp oil are so small that they are regarded as insignificant. In fact, for commercial hemp oil products to comply with government regulations, they must contain less than 10ppm THC, which is extremely low and non-detectable. Although the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) announced a worldwide ban on the sale of all hemp-based foods and oils in 2001, this decision was condemned as illegal in 2004, following a successful appeal to the Ninth U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals in San Francisco, CA.

What’s in the tea, you may ask? A lot of cool antioxidants that offer major health benefits. Tea has become the second most popular beverage in the world, falling short behind H2O. Tea is made from a processed plant leaf known as Camellia Sinensis or Thea Sinensis. This mild stimulant contains a small amount of caffeine and offers the body amazing advantages. Tea has been credited with positive effects on some of the world’s most common health concerns including aging, cancer, arthritis, heart disease, cholesterol, allergies, weight loss and more.
While both green and black teas share some preventative and improvement similarities, they separately serve specific purposes within the body. Green and black teas contribute to reduced risks of heart attacks and strokes. Black tea helps to reduce clogged arteries, while green tea lowers cholesterol and the formation of blood clots. All of these symptoms have direct correlations to strokes and heart attacks. Both teas are also named as one of the best cancer fighters on the market. However, green tea has proven to contain more EGCG, an antioxidant that blocks the growth of cancer forming enzymes in the body.
Green tea has also been known to help control reactions to allergens such as pollen and dust. Trying to lose weight? Well, in addition to the previously stated pros, many researchers have concluded that drinking green tea has more of an effect on your weight loss program than most diet beverages. Once you get the healthy figure, a beautiful smile must complement it. Green tea can also be used as a preventative measure for tooth decay and gum disease.

While green tea has been the dominant tea of choice for years, black teas have gained substantial popularity. Black tea also offers necessary health benefits including anti-inflammatory compounds that help with arthritis. In addition, it has the ability to reduce the effect of specific germs that cause health issues like diarrhea, pneumonia, skin infections and herpes.

Chronic Candy/Ice - Innervision Art: Erick Mitchell
Erick Mitchell develops his unique art creations from a wide variety of influences. Growing up in urban Los Angeles, he witnessed art on everything from bus stop movie posters to graffiti on walls. Erick was observant and discovered his love for design at the age of 17. It was then that he took his natural talent and sought a career in the field of graphic design. Erick began his artistic journey as an intern at Monochrome Graphics, where he was surrounded by artists with various degrees of style and technique. He was able to adapt and absorb different skills from each person and develop his own sense of creativity.
In 1999, Erick founded Visual Insight, a graphics and print studio offering every type of design and print available to the public. Looking to monopolize his field of expertise, he allowed his style to slowly evolve and continuously sought more education in an effort to maintain a healthy edge ahead of the competition.
In 2002, he parted ways with his partners at Visual Insight and decided to pursue a freelance career. Erick took on fewer clients, which allowed him to cater to each of their particular needs. Eight years later, after countless projects and hours perfecting his technique, he joined forces with Greenlight Beverages, LLC and became the company's creative director and lead designer. While he is the full-time designer for Greenlight Beverages, he still makes time to personally fulfill the graphic needs of a few, select freelance clients. He is also taking higher education courses with hopes of enhancing his knowledge and achieving his ultimate potential.
